As I Slowly Start to Wake

Spirit, in my restlessness,

Please hold me close to you,

So I might dream you into being.

In my foolishness,

Touch the part of me that aches,

With the fullness of the dark.

As you turn to me,

I feel my body soften.

With gentle tears now falling.

Miseries unraveling,

The ones that I knit quietly,

As I sat and sipped my sorrow.

Lightly, lightly now, then all at once.

Lifetimes resting on the floor.

I’m beginning to remember.

That you are here,

In my fear and my forgetfulness,

As I slowly start to wake.
